Location/Scheduling for Actual Patent Bar Exam

The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office has arranged for a private company, Prometric, to administer the Patent Bar Examination at one of their 10,000 test centers located in 160 countries.

To find the most convenient test center to your location, please go to http://www.prometric.com/USPTO/default.htm and enter your zip code.

In order to schedule a test with Prometric, you must first make an application to the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.  An application form and all other information that you’ll need is in The General Requirements Bulletin for Admission to the Examination for Registration that may be downloaded at www.uspto.gov/learning-and-resources/patent-and-trademark-practitioners/becoming-patent-practitioner.

You are encouraged to apply to take the Patent Bar Exam approximately 60 days before your preferred exam date.  After the Patent Office processes your application, they will assign you an ID# that must be used within 90 days to schedule an exam date with Prometric.

Although Prometric offers exams Mondays through Saturdays, it’s recommended that you schedule a test date at least several weeks in advance in order to ensure that they have an opening on a date that will be convenient for you.
